4 February – Two more Hobbycraft craft kits recalled due to asbestos fears
Two more Hobbycraft craft kits have been recalled, due to fears they may be contaminated with asbestos.
The Hobbycraft Easter Bumper Craft Kit and the Hobbycraft Sand and Pom Pom Art Kit both pose a health risk as the sand included in the set may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos.
Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure.
This latest alert is in addition to the recall of the brand’s Giant Box of Craft, which was also recalled due to asbestos contamination fears on 27 January.
The Easter Bumper Craft Kit, an Easter-themed craft kit supplied in plastic box with carry case, has a product code of 6835991000.
The Sand and Pom Pom Art Kit, a kit with multicoloured pictures of a fox and a sloth, on the front, has a product code of 6669851000.
Owners are advised to stop using these products immediately and keep them out of the reach of children.
To dispose of the product, follow this advice:
- Stop using the product immediately.
- If the sand is still in its packaging, place in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double tape it securely, label it clearly and store in a secure location out of the reach of children.
- If the sand has been used, clean up sites where the product was used using wet cloths to avoid generating dust. Wear gloves and a mask. Double bag the sand, gloves, mask and cloths.
- Keep children and other people away from areas where the sand has been used until the area has been cleaned.
- Return the sand vials from the product to your nearest Hobbycraft store for a full refund.

27 January – Asbestos health risk prompts Hobbycraft children’s play sand recall
Hobbycraft is recalling its Giant Box of Craft as the containers of coloured sand included in the set may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos.
Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure.
The affected craft boxes have the following product numbers (note, additional numbers were added to this recall on 30/1/2026):
- 6686021000
- 6505261000
- 6099201000
- 6597221000
- 6606171000
These are located below the barcode on the packaging. The craft boxes have been withdrawn from the market and recalled by Hobbycraft.
Owners are being advised to stop using the craft boxes immediately and keep them out of the reach of children.

A spokesperson for Hobbycraft said: ‘Following independent testing of a children’s sand product previously sold by Hobbycraft, traces of asbestos have been identified in a limited number of samples.
‘The product was removed from sale immediately after concerns were raised, and there is no evidence of any injury or harm to customers. In co-ordination with Trading Standards and the Office for Product Safety & Standards, we are voluntarily recalling the Giant Box of Craft with immediate effect.
‘We are in the process of proactively contacting customers where we have their contact details.’
