Today we joined with Kent Police and Canterbury City Council parking enforcement to carry out a patrol in Streetfield at school drop off time this morning (Wednesday). We also had Police in School Lane and Norton Avenue.
We did speak to some parents about being parked with engines running, across driveways and on the no waiting lines. We also had one parent parked on double yellows for a considerable time which has been reported to the Council for enforcement.
We appreciate residents bought houses near a school, however parking across driveways, parking on “no waiting” and double yellows as well as zigzags is unacceptable and dangerous, and we are often told they are met with aggression or abuse by parents.
We also understand some parents are trying to get to work, have young children or their circumstances dictate that they need to drive to school. Please just be considerate to each other, and park safely and legally.
School Lane car park is free until 9am, or park away and walk.
