Kent Scam Alerts

Doorstep criminals have been active this week in Borough Green, Tunbridge Wells, Sheerness and Westgate-on-Sea offering roofing work or claiming urgent repairs are needed.

Legitimate traders do not turn up uninvited. Never agree to work from cold callers and do not feel pressured into making a decision on the doorstep.

If you see suspicious individuals going door to door, report them to CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online. If they refuse to leave or act aggressively, call 999 immediately.

If you need work carried out on your home, use a reputable trader through KCC Trading Standards Checked.

Please help protect vulnerable friends, neighbours and family members by sharing this warning. For advice, contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133.

⚠️ Kent residents have been targeted with fake online job opportunities that require upfront payments before wages can be released.

Victims are persuaded to review products online and are then told they must pay money to receive their earnings, with scammers repeatedly demanding larger deposits.

How to protect yourself:
🚨Be wary of job offers that promise easy money for simple online tasks.
❌Never pay money to receive wages or commission from an employer.
✅Research the company independently and check for reviews or scam reports.
🔴Stop contact immediately if you are asked to make additional payments.
