Proactive patrols in Whitstable seize large quantity of drugs
A suspected drug dealer has appeared in court following arrests by proactive patrols in Whitstable.
On Thursday 8 June 2023, officers detained a 23-year-old man in Windmill Road and seized a quantity of cannabis, suspected cocaine and cash from his vehicle.
The constables then searched a property in Faversham and seized further amounts of cocaine and more cash. As the officers commenced the search, a second man left the address in a van. He was subsequently arrested and another search recovered a knife.
It is alleged the van was driven dangerously after officers required it to stop. It is further alleged that an officer was assaulted after the vehicle came to a halt.
Tyler Smith, of Preston Street, Faversham, was later charged with possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, possessing a bladed weapon, dangerous driving, and assaulting an emergency worker. The 25-year-old appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 10 June where he was bailed to a further hearing on Monday 10 July at Canterbury Crown Court.
