Broomfield Pond
Following public consultation through our Parish Newsletter and a special meeting of the Friends of Broomfield & Herne Ponds; we are delighted to inform you that local firm, Kent Logs Tree Surgery, will be carrying out the tree work needed at Broomfield Pond early in the new year.
The work will mainly be funded by Section 106 money, via our Parish Council. We hope you will bear with us while this work is being done and that it doesn’t cause you too much inconvenience.
The work planned will include:
North East side – Remove large fallen tree from pond and fell adjacent dead Elm.
South East side – Fell 2 willows on bank and clear scrub growth between edge trees (to be retained) and waters edge
South side (Broomfield Road) – Cut back roadside vegetation to give 3 metre clearance from road and cut vision gaps to pond where road drainage ditches have been cut. (This area will later be levelled and gravelled to make a safe walkway around the pond)
West side – Clear 4/5 fallen Willows in pond North West side – Fell all roadside/pond side trees from pub frontage to opp no 2 Pond Cottages.
Thank you for your patience. Hopefully once the disturbed areas regenerate, our iconic pond will become a haven for people and wildlife once again.
