Issues with seagulls in the parish
Seagulls can be a problem, especially at this time of year when they are nesting. They are very protective parents and will attack anyone, or anything, that they think could be a threat. This is a particular issue for people walking their dogs, as they will dive bomb both the dog and the dog walker. Also, if they are nesting on someone’s roof, they will attack people in their own gardens. If you have ever been attacked by a gull you will know how frightening this can be.
We can all help to stop some of the gull’s antisocial behaviour by:
- not attracting the gulls by feeding them. If you leave food out for other birds and animals, please try to leave it out in a way that the gulls cannot get to it.
- ensuring that all your rubbish is disposed of properly in your bins.
- if gulls nest on your property, once they have gone, please put anti-nesting deterrents on you home.
