Following discussions about the ongoing parking pressures around the school, Herne and Broomfield Parish Council is pleased to announce that the lower Herne Centre car park will be available for parents to use from next week during school drop-off and pick-up times.
We hope that reopening the car park will help ease congestion and make things a little easier and safer for parents, children and local residents.
To enable us to continue offering this facility, we kindly ask everyone to respect the following conditions:
🅿️ Parking will only be permitted during the following times, during term time:
8.15am – 8.50am
2.30pm – 3.30pm
🅿️ Please only park in the clearly marked parking bays.
🚫 No parking is permitted in the two Parish Council staff bays (on the left side of the ramp as you enter) these must remain available at all times, as these are required for staff working at the Herne Centre.
🚫 No parking in the Herne Centre car park outside of the designated times. (i.e. for assembly’s, sports days, early pick ups).
There may be occasions when we are unable to offer parking because of a booking or event. If parents are asked to move their vehicles, we ask that this is done respectfully and without any abuse towards members of staff.
This arrangement is being introduced to help the community, and we hope everyone will work with us to make it a success. If the conditions are repeatedly ignored, or if any member of staff experiences abuse, we will unfortunately have no option but to remove access to the car park for school parking altogether.
We are hopeful that this positive step will help us move forward and return to the good relationship that the Parish Council and school parents have enjoyed in the past.
