⚠️ Investment scam calls have been targeting residents this week.
Resident invested hundreds of pounds after being reassured they could withdraw their money at any time. The scammer then pressured them to invest even more. When the resident later tried to withdraw the original payment, this was refused.
Reminders to help keep you safe:
✅ legitimate firms will never pressure you to invest
✅ be cautious of any unsolicited calls offering quick returns
✅ always check that an investment company is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) before handing over any money.

⚠️ Fake Citizens Advice consumer helpline calls have been making their rounds.
In one instance, a criminal called and claimed a resident had outstanding debts. When questioned, they gave vague answers such as “it could be power, accounts, etc.” When challenged again, they abruptly hung up.
🚨 This is a common tactic used by criminals to frighten people into sharing personal or financial information.
How to protect yourself:
✅ be cautious of unexpected calls about debts, especially if the caller is vague or avoids giving clear details
✅ do not share or confirm any personal or banking information, even if the caller sounds official
✅ hang up immediately if something feels wrong or the caller pressures you to respond quickly.

⚠️ Residents have been targeted by a fake event tickets scam.
A resident bought event tickets from a private seller on Twitter and paid through WhatsApp, but never received the tickets. The seller then asked for more money, refused to give a refund, and is still advertising tickets online.
🚨Please be cautious when buying tickets from private individuals on social media.
Things to keep in mind to protect yourself:
✅ Only buy tickets from official sellers or trusted, well‑known platforms
✅ Avoid paying via bank transfer to people you don’t know
✅ Be wary of accounts with limited history or recent posts
✅ If a deal looks too good to be true, it usually is
