Over Christmas we made many purchases and fraudsters are targeting us all. Please be alert to phone calls pretending to be from your bank or card company.An automated call claiming a suspicious transaction has occurred on your account and needs to be verified. You are told to press a number on your phone to speak to an agent who is actually the fraudster. THIS IS A SCAM.Neither banks nor the police will ever contact asking for your online banking password or for you to transfer money to a new account for fraud reasons.To report and get advice contact Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133.

We have received information of a doorstep criminal calling at homes in Kennington Road in Ashford, Kent. They are offering to cut down trees for no charge claiming to be from the NHS and targeting older home owners.

A person will typically reply to an advert for a fast loan and will have their application approved regardless of their credit history.Before they receive the loan, they are told they must pay an upfront fee to cover insurance for the loan. Kent resident targeted by job scam, after being promised a high income employment they needed to pay a deposit before starting work.
