Strike action by the ASLEF union is due to take place across our network on Tuesday 30 January.
Travel advice for Tuesday 30 January
- We’re sorry, but you cannot travel on this date – there are no trains running on our network and no replacement buses. For alternative transport options please visit traveline.
- There are no Thameslink or Southern services running from our stations either. Please visit their websites for more information.
- We plan to run our full timetable on Monday 29 January and Wednesday 31 January, including at the end of the day and in the early morning.
- Online journey planners are up-to-date.
Overtime Ban also in place
ASLEF also has an overtime ban from Monday 29 January to Tuesday 6 February. We plan to run our full service during this time, except for Tuesday 30 January, which is a strike day, and when no trains will run on our network.
Strike action on other train operators between 30 January and 5 February
- Tuesday 30 January – Southeastern, Southern, Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Thameslink, South Western Railway.
- Wednesday 31 January – Northern Trains, Transpennine Trains.
- Friday 2 February – Greater Anglia, C2C, LNER.
- Saturday 3 February – West Midlands Trains, Avanti West Coast, East Midlands Railway.
- Monday 5 February – Great Western Railway, CrossCountry, Chiltern.

If the strike action is cancelled at short notice, we may not be able to switch back to our normal timetable immediately. Rail services are built in complex, interrelated IT systems covering fleet, crew schedules and rosters, and so it takes some time to get everything back to normal. We’re very sorry for any inconvenience the strike action will cause you.
Passengers with tickets for 30 January will be able to use their ticket on an alternative day between 29 Jan-7 Feb, if they purchased before strikes were announced on 16 January. For further information on ticketing, please visit our ticketing section on our industrial action page.
