Temporary Road Closure, Suspend One-Way, Reverse One-Way, No Right Turn & No Left Turn – B2205 Sea Street & Various Roads, Whitstable – 7th November 2022 (Canterbury District)

It will be necessary to close part of B2205 Sea Street, Whitstable, from 7th November 2022 with estimated completion by 12th November 2022.

The one-way Order on B2205 Sea Street will be suspended to allow access. The one-way Order on B2205 Horsebridge Road will be suspended to allow access. The one-way Order on B2205 Harbour Street will be reversed to enable traffic to flow northbound. There will be a No Right Turn restriction imposed on B2205 Sea Street, prohibiting traffic turning right onto B2205 Harbour Street. There will be a No Right Turn restriction imposed on B2205 Horsebridge Road and Terrys Lane, prohibiting traffic turning right onto B2205 High Street. There will be a No Right Turn restriction imposed on Red Lion Lane, prohibiting traffic from turning right onto B2205 Harbour Street. There will be a No Left Turn restriction imposed on Victoria Street, Albert Street and Woodlawn Street, prohibiting traffic from turning left onto B2205 Harbour Street.

The following restrictions will be in place, as detailed below:

There will be no access for through traffic on B2205 Sea Street from outside number 12 to the junction with B2205 Harbour Street.

The alternative route for through traffic is via B2205 Harbour Street.

The One-way Traffic Order in respect of B2205 Sea Street will be temporarily suspended from either direction up to the point of the closure, to allow for access only.

There will be a No Right Turn restriction in place during the closure, prohibiting traffic from turning right onto B2205 Harbour Street from B2205 Sea Street.

B2205 Harbour Street will be closed to westbound traffic from the western entrance to The Harbour to the junction with B2205 High Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There will be no access to westbound through traffic between the junctions with Cromwell Road and B2205 High Street. Access will be maintained up to the Harbour.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Cromwell Road, B2205 Oxford Street and B2205 High Street.

B2205 Harbour Street will become one-way northbound from B2205 High Street towards The Harbour.

The One-way Traffic Order in respect of B2205 Harbour Street will be reversed between the junctions with Woodlawn Street and B2205 High Street, to enable traffic to flow northbound.

The bus stops will be moved to the west side of B2205 Harbour Street, with some limited parking allowed on the east side.

B2205 High Street will be closed to southbound traffic from the junction with Terrys Lane, southwards for approximately 20 metres, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There will be a No Right Turn restriction in place during the closure, prohibiting traffic from B2205 Horsebridge Road and Terrys Lane from turning right into B2205 High Street.

The alternative route for through traffic will be via B2205 Harbour Street, Cromwell Road, B2205 Oxford Street and B2205 High Street.

Cromwell Road will be closed to eastbound traffic at the junction with B2205 Oxford Street.

There will be no access into Cromwell Road from B2205 Oxford Street.

The alternative route for through traffic is via B2205 Oxford Street, B2205 High Street and B2205 Harbour Street.

The One-way Traffic Order in respect of B2205 Horsebridge Road will be temporarily suspended between the junctions with Red Lion Lane and Terrys Lane, to allow for essential access/exit.

There will be a No Right Turn restriction in place on Red Lion Lane, prohibiting traffic from turning right onto B2205 Harbour Street.

No Left Turn restrictions will be imposed on Victoria Street, Albert Street and Woodlawn Street, prohibiting traffic from turning left onto Harbour Street.

Due to the nature of the works, all restrictions will need to remain in force outside the normal working hours.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while manhole replacement works are undertaken by Southern Water.
