Restrictions on Driving, Pedestrians & Cyclists – Canterbury Food & Drink Festival 2022 – 21st September 2022 (Canterbury District)
It will be necessary to temporarily impose restrictions on traffic and pedestrians on Dane John, St Georges Terrace and City Wall, Canterbury, as outlined below:
DANE JOHN, CANTERBURY – the Central Passageways will be closed as follows:
To all vehicles from Wednesday 21 September at 06:00 hours through until Monday 26 September at 18:00 hours
To pedestrians at the following times:
Wednesday 21 September at 06:00 hours through to Friday 23 September at 10:00 hours
Friday 23 September – from 18:00 hours through to Saturday 24 September at 10:00 hours
Saturday 24 September – from 18:00 hours through to Sunday 25 September at 10:00 hours
Sunday 25 September – from 17:00 hours through to Monday 26 September at 18:00 hours
ST GEORGES TERRACE & CITY WALL (the path around the City Wall) and all pathways in Dane John will be closed to all pedestrians except residents, overnight for 5 nights, from Wednesday 21 September through until Monday 26 September inclusive, from 19:00 hours through until 07:00 hours each night.
The section of St Georges Terrace affected is from the junction of Watling Street for a distance of approximately 40 metres in an Easterly direction.
City Wall will be closed for the entire length.
Residents will continue to be able to gain access to their properties via the entrance gate at the junction of St Mary’s Street and Marlowe Avenue.
These restrictions apply when the relevant signs and barriers are displayed on site.
WATLING STREET – whilst the event is being held, there will be temporary control on the zebra crossing adjacent to St Georges Lane.
Pedestrian use of the zebra crossing will be controlled by events marshals on either side of the zebra crossing.
These control measures will be in force throughout the times that the Food and Drink Festival is open and remain in force for as long as necessary after closing, to ensure that the safety of pedestrians is maintained.
These restrictions apply when the marshals are in attendance and signs and barriers are displayed on site.
