Temporary Road Closure – A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable, & Chestfield Road, Chestfield – From 25th October 2022 (Canterbury District)
It will be necessary to close part of the A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable, & Chestfield Road, Chestfield, from 25th October 2022 with estimated completion by 29th October 2022, in 2 phases, as detailed below:
Phase 1:
The A2990 Thanet Way will be closed coastbound only from outside of McDonald’s to the McDonald’s roundabout including the northwest quadrant of the roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site. The closure will take place between 22:00 hours and 05:00 hours from 25th October 2022, with estimated completion by 27th October 2022.
Phase 2:
The A2990 Thanet Way will be closed westbound only from its junction with Chestfield Road up to the McDonald’s roundabout, including the southwest quadrant of the roundabout.
Chestfield Road will be closed northbound for approximately 60 metres of the Chestfield Road exit onto the A2990 Thanet Way London bound, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The phase 2 closures will take place between 22:00 hours and 05:00 hours from 27th October 2022, with estimated completion by 29th October 2022.
For the A2990 Thanet Way coastbound closure the alternative route for any through traffic is via A2290 Thanet Way, A299 Eastbound Slip Onto A299 From Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way and A291 Canterbury Road roundabout.
For the A2990 Thanet Way westbound closure the alternative route for any through traffic is via A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet way on slip, A299 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way off slip, A290 Clapham Hill and A2990 Thanet Way.
For the Chestfield Road closure the alternative route for any through traffic is via Chestfield Road, South Street, Millstrood Road and A2990 Thanet Way.
The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while highway resurfacing works are undertaken by Chartway Civil Engineering.
