Good afternoon,
We are now at the halfway point of the second consultation for the CGR, and there is still time to have your say on proposals for how communities in Herne Bay, Whitstable and the surrounding areas are represented, and whether any changes are needed to rural parish councils.
Thank you to everyone who has already taken part. If you have not yet responded, please complete the survey by 9am on Thursday 17 December 2026. https://online1.snapsurveys.com/2026cgrstage2
What we are asking
Working with residents and community groups, we have drawn up proposals on two main questions:
Should Herne Bay, Whitstable and surrounding areas have their own town or parish councils?
Are any changes needed to the parish council in your rural area?
These are not final decisions. Before councillors decide, they want to hear what you think of the proposals.
You can read the proposals and find the information for your area on our consultation page. https://haveyoursay.canterbury.gov.uk/community-governance-review-2026-stage-2
