Gas Network Upgrade – Margate Road Herne Bay.

Gas Network Upgrade – Margate Road Herne Bay

We’ll soon be carrying out essential gas network upgrades along Margate Road in Herne Bay. This work will ensure a continued safe and reliable supply of gas is delivered to nearby homes and businesses and is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.

Our contractor, I&G Contracting, who are completing this project on our behalf, will be starting from Wednesday 15 April. We expect this project to last for approximately 9-10 weeks.

To keep everyone safe while we carry out this work, we’ll be using a rolling road closure around our excavation areas. Our teams will be replacing our gas pipes along Margate Road, starting at the junction with Bogshole Lane and progressing towards number 175. The closure will move with us as we install the new pipework.

A signed diversion route will be in place throughout. Details of the diversion route are available on One Network here: – https://one.network/?tmi=GB38386095

Residents within the works area will always be able to access their properties, although depending on where we are working, access may need to be taken via the diversion route. Our on‑site team will stay in touch with residents and provide updates on any changes to access arrangements.

We understand roadworks can be frustrating and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.

However, the new plastic pipe has a lifespan of 80 years. This means that once our work is done, Herne Bay residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable supply of gas for many years to come.
