Herne Bay and Whitstable water supply update.

Good morning,

Water levels in our drinking water storage tanks in the Herne Bay and Whitstable area remain low but have stabilised.

However, because demand for drinking remains high and despite our treatment and storage facilities working at full capacity, there is still a risk that supplies could be impacted.

What are we doing?

We are continuing to use tankers to directly inject water into drinking water storage tanks which supply the area and have changed the way water moves around our network in order to support the area as much as we can.

We are monitoring the situation closely to see if water deliveries should be scheduled to our customers on the Priority Services Register who are unable to collect supplies themselves.

If needed, we will open bottled water stations and community hubs in the area if supply interruptions are likely.

How can customers help?

We are still urging all our customers to use water for essential purposes only: drinking, cooking and hygiene.

Please share this message with your communities.

Thank you to everyone for their continued support in helping us keep the area’s taps flowing during this period.

When will you update me again?

We will update you again tomorrow (Tuesday, 4 August), unless the situation changes.

Please share this information within your communities.

Regards,

Rob Hall
