Homophobic hate crime at Canterbury bus station

Witnesses to a hate-related assault in Canterbury are being urged to come forward.

A man in his 30s reported being punched by a woman after she directed homophobic comments towards him at the bus station in St George’s Lane.

The incident is believed to have happened between 10.40pm and 11.15pm on Wednesday 31 May 2023.

Kent Police officers are investigating and would like to hear from any witnesses to the incident, including three males who helped the victim before he caught a bus home.
