AI investment scams have been targeting residents, with scammers making unsolicited and repeated phone calls promoting investment opportunities.
They may pressure you to invest quickly, promise high returns, or ask for personal and financial information.
If you’re contacted out of the blue about an investment opportunity, be cautious and don’t feel pressured into making an immediate decision. Research any opportunity independently, speak to a trusted friend or family member before investing, and hang up if anything feels uncomfortable or doesn’t seem right.

⚠️ Residents have been targeted by scam phone calls claiming there have been suspicious transactions on a bank account.
The calls use an automated message and do not identify which bank they are calling from or address the recipient by name.
If you receive a similar call:
⚠️Hang up immediately.
❌Do not press any buttons or follow any instructions.
❌Never share personal, banking, or security information over the phone.
✅Contact your bank directly using a number you trust if you’re concerned about your account.

⚠️ Smoke alarm scam emails have been making their rounds.
The email falsely states that your home has been added to a review list due to “outdated or missing smoke detectors” and warns of fines, inspections, or impacts on home insurance if you do not take immediate action. Recipients are then urged to click a link to “check their status”.
🚨 This was confirmed to be a phishing scam.
✅ Protect yourself:
• Do not click links in unexpected emails.
• Be wary of messages threatening fines or legal action.
• Check any claims directly with your local Fire and Rescue Service using contact details from their official website.
• Delete the email if you believe it is a scam.
