Update – Temporary Road Closure & 40 MPH Speed Restriction – A299 Thanet Way, Whitstable

Update
Please note, further works are required to carry out remedial works and additional testing works to the new lighting system. There will be closures in both directions for two nights from 31st August 2023, with estimated completion by 2nd September 2023 and for one night on 11th September 2023, with estimated completion by 12th September 2023. The speed restriction is not required.
Previous Update
Due to engineering difficulties the duration of the second phase has been extended as follows:-
The temporary mandatory 40 mph speed restriction will be in place until 9th July 2023.
The final full overnight road closures will now take place on 6th July 2023, for up to 2 nights, although it is expected that only the first night is required.
Lane 2 closures in both directions in the vicinity of the Chestfield tunnel will be in place from 6th July 2023, until midnight on 9th July 2023.
Please also note:-
The A299 Thanet Way will be closed overnight in both directions between the Whitstable and Herne Bay on/off slip roads on 10th July 2023, for 2 nights for the High Speed Road Maintenance programme works to be undertaken.
